Tracy Clay
Creator of Grandmama Babies
I’m Tracy Clay, and for over three decades, I’ve had the privilege of serving as an educator, dedicating my career to helping children discover the joy of learning. My journey began with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from the University of West Florida, followed by a Master’s in Elementary Education from Troy State University, and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University. After thirty years in the classroom, I’m just as passionate about sparking curiosity and building confidence in students and teachers as I was on my very first day. This enduring passion led me to create Grandmama Babies, my way of reaching even more young minds and showing them what I’ve always believed that math is easy when it’s taught with love, creativity, and real-life connections.
My approach to education goes beyond textbooks and traditional lessons. One of my most impactful creations was BouTown, a classroom-based system that taught students about economics and discipline through real-world scenarios. By using play checks, bills, and currency, students learned about responsibility and saw the practical, everyday value of math. This method is just one example of my commitment to making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful. My innovative teaching techniques aren’t just for students, though. I’ve had the privilege of training and mentoring fellow educators, sharing methods that bring lessons to life and reignite their passion for teaching. Through Grandmama Babies, my mission is to continue this work, helping every learners and every teachers discover just how joyful and powerful learning can be.
